So what is a Mindful Manicure?
A mindful manicure is a beauty ritual that incorporate mindfulness practices into the process of doing your nails. The crux of it is to take the time to be present in the moment and focus on the sensations and movements involved in your manicure routine.
There is no hard and fast rule as to how you should go about your Mindful Manicure practice. However, for those who are new to incorporating mindfulness into your beauty rituals, here is our guide you follow!
Guide to a Mindful Manicure Practice
1. SET THE INTENTION
Before you begin your manicure, take a moment to set your intention. Think about why you want to do this activity and what you hope to gain from it. You might set an intention to focus on self-care, meditate or to take a break from your busy day.
2. CREATE A PEACEFUL ENVIRONMENT
Find a quiet and comfortable place where you can do your manicure. You might want to dim the lights, light some candles, burn some incense or play some soothing music to create a peaceful atmosphere. Depending on the intention you set, we also love playing a guided meditation.
3. PREPARE YOUR POLISH AND TOOLS
Choose your gel colour and remember the affirmation you chose.
4. FOCUS ON YOUR SENSES
As you begin your manicure, pay attention to your senses. Notice the smell of the products you are using, the feel of the tools in your hand, and the sounds around you. Take deep breaths and feel the relaxation of the process.
5. PRACTICE SLOW, DELIBERATE MOVEMENTS
Take your time and focus on each movement as you care for your cuticles from pushing them back to nipping any excess dried skin or hangnails. When applying your gel polish, use slow and deliberate movements, and feel the connection between your hands and the tools you are using.
6. STAY PRESENT IN THE MOMENT
As you complete your manicure, try to stay present in the moment. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring your focus back to the task at hand. Notice the finished result and appreciate the care you’ve given to yourself.
7. EXPRESS GRATITUDE
As you finish your manicure, take a moment to express gratitude for the opportunity to practice mindfulness and self-care.
8. SAY YOUR AFFIRMATION OUT LOUD
Say your affirmation out loud with clarity and confidence. Customise the affirmation to your current circumstances and your goals.
For instance, if you chose the gel colour abundant and want to manifest financial abundance, you could customise your affirmation like this:
"I align with the energy of abundance. I release all resistance to attracting money. I attract money easily and effortlessly. I believe there is enough money for everyone. I always have enough money"
It's important to speak with conviction and belief in what you are saying. Repeat your affirmations 5 times.
9. VISUALISE THE MEANING
As you repeat your affirmations, visualize the meaning behind each statement. Imagine yourself embodying the qualities or attributes that you are affirming, and feel the positive energy and emotions that come with them. Take this feeling with you as you go about your day.
